Civil War

The retreat into tribalism that is today's politics poses an existential threat to this country and the world. There's no way to sugar coat this. Our house divided will not stand. It doesn't make any difference whether the tribes are Democrat and Republican, male and female, rich and poor, divided along ethnic, racial, national, or cultural lines, we cannot have a democracy when we're fighting with one another from those tribal positions, seeing each other as threats and enemies rather than partners in the balancing act that is our system of governance.
